Overview
Surface Tension captures the illusion of movement held in restraint. Carved from solid wood, its undulating surface suggests a fluid state frozen at its breaking point—soft in appearance, structurally fixed in reality. The sculpted relief creates depth through shadow and reflection rather than imagery.
A layered spray-applied finish moves from saturated magenta into deep violet, settling naturally into the carved recesses and amplifying the sense of tension across the surface. Framed in clean wood, the piece reads as a controlled wall object—quiet, charged, and materially focused.
